Today Legacy Business Cultures (LBC) joins our friends and colleagues in remembering the victims of homicide and their loved ones. We celebrate victims’ lives, mourn their tragic loss and work to find meaning from the trauma that has touched so many Americans. LBC is proud to partner with FOHVAMP, Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons, who act as liaisons to law enforcement and is committed to providing resources and a collective voice to advocate for all who have been impacted by homicide or are missing.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the U.S. homicide rate was 4.7 victims per 100,000 U.S. residents in 2012 (the latest year for which we have reliable statistics). While it is encouraging that the homicide rate has reached the lowest level since 1963, this still translates to a staggering number of affected friends and family members. It is these loved ones who are left behind, as well as the law enforcement community, that our strategic partner, FOHVAMP, and LBC work to empower and support.
Paul Meshanko, CEO of Legacy Business Cultures, sees this day as an opportunity for each of us to initiate personal change and put it this way,
“We all can contribute to a kinder, more respectful world together by taking the time to express compassion and forgive ourselves and those around us. The responsibility lies within us as individuals to end the cycles of violence that may have been perpetrated against us”.
Thank you for taking a moment to reflect upon the lives senselessly lost and how we can support those affected by homicide and stop violence in its tracks.
